Who is a good quilter? Your creative quilting neighbour? Or that highly enthusiastic but clumsy beginner? These question can are still unanswered. However, with a few tips you can sharpen your skills and turn the quilting needle in your favour.

A few tips:

Quilting is an art that evolves over time. To become a good quilter you need to first understand the ins and outs of quilting. This theoretical knowledge can be applied while solving problems related to quilting. The glossary terms also help you shop appropriately for all your quilting accessories like fabrics, rotary cutters and more. 'Practice makes man perfect'. This saying is especially applicable here. No matter how talented and creative you are, you do need constant practice to help you rectify minor mistakes in time and also enhance your skills in the process. To excel in your work, you need to pay attention to minor details. Tips like buying more fabric, or sharpening rotary blades may sound hackneyed. Nevertheless, such tips make a difference between an average quilter and a good quilter. Good quilters also show some common traits. They are more vigilant, highly innovative and super dedicated. To be counted in as a good quilter, you need to harbour a few of these traits by exercising your mind with new problems and challenges. Good quilters also show a knack or organization and planning. To come up with good designs you need to first ensure that you are properly armed with necessary accessories for tackling any kind of quilting project.

Get support:

Like patch block quilts, good quilters are made up of number of blocks or characteristics. One side shows the technical expertise, while the other block shows their unique creativity. However, the entire picture for an expert quilter is never complete without valuable support from like-minded quilters. Sharing of advice and suggestions ultimately makes that tiny difference between a good industrious quilter and a good happy quilter. So get the support you need and follow your own pattern. You may just be the next good quilter in 'block'

The partial seam quilt block technique is perhaps the simplest technique in quilting. The results produced are however as contradictory as possible. With basic guidelines, you can understand the alluringly complexity and factually simplicity of the quilt block technique with partial seams.

How it's done:

Usually, quilt blocks with partial seams are constructed with set – in pieces. These pieces are stitched around the center of the shape by initially sewing only half of the seam. The remaining pieces are then sewed later. Finally, the first seam is closed by joining the first and the last pieces. Overall, this technique can be summed up with a few critical points. The First step is to sew the seam halfway. Then very quickly the other seams need to be sewn. Finally the method is successfully mastered when you manage to completely sew the partial seam in the end. This technique is popularly used as an alternative against many complex techniques. Partial seam technique is very easy and is the best way of assembling together complex designs like the bright hopes block design. In this design, generally, the partial seam technique can be accomplished by stitching a quarter inch seam at the place where patches meet. Then, you need to continue sewing until you reach the midpoint of the aligned center square. Then you need to remove the fabric by backstitching on the machine. Finally, partial seam needs to be pressed towards the square, which is placed in the center, before proceeding ahead. Thus, this technique can also be applied effectively for creating illusions like the set in corner illusions.

Learning the technique:

You can learn this technique accurately by joining a quilting class. Detailed instructions of partial seam techniques are also available in major quilting books. They can be also downloaded from the Internet. However, It does not matter how you choose to learn this technique. The fact of the matter is that you will need constant practice and a quilter's insight to master the technique of quilt block sewing with partial seams.

What could be more disheartening than to see you favorite fabrics literally bleed to death in your quilt? Perhaps the answer will be, to buy and wash quilts without performing a simple blood or bleed test on your fabrics.

Bleed test:

Bleed test is absolutely necessary, if you are working with cotton fabrics. Cotton fabrics have the propensity to lose their dyes. Fabrics with dark colours like red, green and purple are also at significant risk, with this respect. Losing dyes can be particularly disastrous if you don't pre wash your fabrics. To prevent this, you can perform a few simple bleed tests. The simplest bleed test can be performed by placing a piece of your fabric in soapy water for about half and hour. After this stipulated time, if the water is clear, then you can go ahead with quilting. However, if the water is stained, you can unceremoniously conform that your fabric bleeds. Another test to conform whether your fabric bleeds or not is by placing the piece of fabric in soapy water and then without rinsing placing the same fabric on a white and clean paper towel. If the paper gets stained, you can be perfectly sure that your fabric has all the chances of losing its dye on being washed. Some fabrics who initially lose their dye however stop doing so after a couple of washes. However, if the fabric keeps losing colour with every wash, then it is advisable that you discontinue its use in quilting.

Prevention:

To ensure that your fabrics stay healthy, you can take a few precautionary measures. Firstly, You should buy fabrics only from the brands you trust. Also, before washing, you can treat your fabrics with commercial dye fixatives. This prevents fabrics from losing their colour. Preferably, only mild detergent should be used while washing your fabrics. Detergents loaded with chemicals can harm your fabrics beyond recognition. However, you can prevent such mishaps by following a few guidelines and by performing the indispensable blood tests on your fabrics.

Quilting has always enjoyed a dignified position of its own. With set patterns and techniques of sewing, quilting symbolizes perfect coordination between fabrics and colours. Thus, it is only crazy quilting that enables you to break out of the confines of rules and burst into an adventure of colours, designs and mind-boggling fabrics.

What is crazy quilting?

Crazy quilting is often referred to as crazy patchwork where quilting does not conform to any specific pattern. It is a kind of pattern where pieces are not cut into specific sizes but are rather sewn together at will. Crazy quilts very rarely come with internal layer of batting, which usually is the chief component of the other varieties of quilts. Usually, haphazard patterns are designed in crazy quilting on a foundation. The foundation can be made of cloth, paper or any other type of fabric. To compensate for the lack of symmetry and set patterns, crazy quilters make full use of their creative side by adding unconventional luxuries on the quilts like buttons, laces and other trimmings. Many crazy quilts are also decked with rich embroidery and unsophisticated, innocent designs. Crazy quilting is a very old type of quilting that dates back further than 1880's. Usually, this type of quilting made use of old discarded fabrics that were tucked trimmed and otherwise changed to form a new quilt altogether, this tradition has differed very little even today. Now- a- days, quilters not only make use of old fabrics, but also and old discarded photographs in an attempt to infuse some meaning in the confusion of fabrics and patterns.

Innovative ideas:

With a few innovative ideas you too can create your own crazy quilt for warming up your home in the most unique way possible. You can use the oldest fabrics possible and let loose your creativity. You can also infuse order in crazy quilts by adding your personalized photographs to infuse long lasting memories. The final result will be as crazy as you had envisioned and as meaningful as you had hoped for while engaging in this labour of love.

You simply need correct and highly effective tools for rotary cutting. This simple investment is guaranteed to add that extra glamorous touch to your quilting masterpieces.

Tools required:

Rotary cutting is a time saving skill that every quilter desires to master effectively. This Relatively simple technique however requires you be equipped with a few handy rotary cutting tools. The first in the list the rotary cutter. Rotary cutter resembles a pizza cutter, but, with extreme sharp blades. Rotary cutters are used for slicing and cutting fabrics in desired shapes. These cutters are available in three sizes, small, medium and large. Mostly large cutters are used for all cutting purposes. In addition to the rotary cutter, you will also need a rotary mat for cutting. Rotary mat is a slightly rough mat, on which fabrics are placed to make a cut. They are highly effective to provide you a firm foundation and also to prevent the rotary blades from getting dull with age. These mats are available in different shapes and sizes. As far as possible larger mats need to used for improving accuracy. Rotary mats are however not that effective if you want to measure strips for cutting. For measuring such strips you can make use of another rotary tool, namely rotary ruler. Rotary rulers are basically see – through acrylic rulers, which can be used effectively to align the fabric and create an edge for accurate cutting. Rulers are available in many different varieties, but the rulers with thin lines markings are the most popular for universal use.

Sewing needle is an important accessory to have in your shopping cart before embarking on a quilting adventure. Also, you can even finish your project faster by using the many different types of sewing needles available in the market.

Types:

You will come across endless varieties of sewing needles on your shopping spree. You will find that the needles vary amongst themselves in terms of their sizes and point tips. Similarly, different manufacturers market a large number of quilting needles, which are each supposed to be more effective than others. Thus, it is important that you understand the common types of needles and their characteristics in order to choose the ones, which best suits, your work. Commonly, quilting needles irrespective of their variety have a specially tapered point, which is helpful while stitching through multiple layers of fabrics. They are highly accurate and ensure the safety of even the most fragile of all fabrics. Quilting needles range in sizes from the very thin type, to the thick type, some even boast of being highly flexible. You will be able to select needles between 70/10, 90/14 or 80/12. Many quilters have almost all these types of needles since they work with many different fabrics. However, if you exclusively deal with thick fabrics and greater sandwich batting, then it would make sense for you to stock yourself more with the 90/14 needles. Thus, the sewing needles differ with the type of fabrics and work involved.

Buying sewing needles:

Sewing needles can be brought from almost all local quilting stores. They can also be easily accessible through online shopping. However, before buying any particular needle make sure that the needles are in good condition. Be sure that the type of needle you are buying is indeed the perfect shape and size you want. Lastly, focus more on the characteristics of the needles rather than their names and assumed types while buying. Thus, You an easily find the types of sewing needles you want by following a few precautions and carrying out a bit of research for the same.

In quilting, you need to make use of a large number of small and large tools. Tools like sewing pins are especially important for carrying out basic quilting operations. Thus, to be an expert quilter, you need to be first well informed on the different aspects of sewing pins.

Types:

Sewing pins are used for holding or piecing appliqu patterns in place before they can be stitched. Different types of sewing pins are available for all your quilting needs. The most common pins are however the long quilters pins which are used to hold the top three layers of the quilt before being subjected to blasting or stitching. Usually, Size two safety pins are also recommended because of their universal use involved While choosing your pins, you need to take a few things into consideration, like the thickness of the fabric. It plays a major role, as sometimes it facilitates the necessity of using stronger and sharper pins. However, in such cases, extreme care should be taken to avoid using thicker pins as they can create unattractive holes in your fabric. For this purpose the long, thin, straight pins should preferred over other varieties. Other popular varieties in sewing pins are indeed the non-corrosive safety pins. These can be used for holding fabric for machine quilting or in appliqu motifs. Non-corrosive pins are especially effective against rust. Rusty pins can be very detrimental to your quilt because more often than not they leave rust stains on your fabrics.

Importance:

Sewing pins are often ignored and their role underestimated in quilting. However, expert quilters do know that a good sewing pin can help take you few extra paces ahead in your project. For instance, if you are not aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the sewing pins, you may choose overlarge pins, where shorter varieties are required. This can lead to gaping holes, which can be unsightly especially in case of appliqu pieces. Thus, don't dare and forget the role of modest sewing pins, if you wish to move ahead on the ladder of your expertise.

Quilting is never quiet accomplished properly if you don't master the art of foundation piecing. This highly efficient technique enables you to quilt rapidly with fewer problems. To understand foundation piecing, we have to first consider a few of its characteristics.

Foundation piecing:

Foundation piecing is a method in which quilt blocks can be made by sewing the pieces to a foundation of fabric or paper. The prime reason for engaging in foundation quilting is to secure a good base for your odd shaped fabrics and designs. This also helps you to simply your work manifold. By assembling the blocks on the foundation, you also ensure the safety of your fragile fabrics as by adding definite strength and stability to the delicate materials. Foundation piecing is known by another popular name, paper piecing. This method dates back to 1990s, though it has been revised a good deal by new quilters. This method is also used as an alternative for the traditional template piecing. Many consider this as an easier and highly efficient method. However, if not mastered accurately, this can well be challenging technique to master in quilting. Both beginners and experts use this method satisfactorily and vouch for its simplicity. The best part of this method is that you can use both fabrics and papers as a foundation for your patch fabrics.

Few considerations:

For having a near perfect foundation piecing technique, you have to make accurate choices between the two types of foundations material, namely, permanent material and temporary material. The former stay in the quilt forever, while the later can be removed after the blocks are joined. You need to weigh both their pros and cons before making the final decision. You also need to make proper foundation templates while engaging in foundation piecing. A lot depends on the templates as they are used as replicas for sewing the quit blocks. Finally, you need to stock yourself with right accessories like pins and needles. These minor details in foundation piecing ultimately make a difference between an average quilt and a full fledge masterpiece.

You walk into your teenager's room and glare at the mess. A flicker of a smile however appears a moment later when you spy a neat and tidy corner of her room, which stands out due to the warm quilt, spread on the bed reading messages that best defines your teen. Such quilts specially made for teens have indeed taken the quilting world by storm.

Expressive quilts:

Teenagers come in all shapes and sizes with personalities as varied as the patterns and types found in quilts themselves. Thus, the range of quilts for teenagers is absolutely unlimited. You can find the most conventional patchwork quilts and just as easily find new quilts designed by quilters who consciously voice the expressions and attitudes of the teens in their exquisite designs. Separate quilts are available for both girls and boys. Among the teenage girls the floral and colorful deigns are most popular, while in teenage boys quilts displaying sport themes and macho colurs are quiet in rage. Quilts for teenagers are also better known because of embroidered expressions reading things like ' do not disturb' and ' teens rule'. such quilts therefore aptly reflect the personality of your teen and voice the many joys of the teenage years.

A few considerations:

Before gifting your teen with a quilt, you need to pay attention to a few points. Do not buy a quilt for your teenager just because it has his favorite colour. Instead focus on your teenager's personality and choose a quilt which best describes your teen to a tee. Many a times, your teenager is quiet likely to surprise you by picking a quilt that you never envision buying yourself. It is therefore necessary to keep your options open. Also, Prefer a quilt that requires little maintenance as most of the teenagers are likely to make short work of the quilt if it is too delicate or fragile. With these few considerations you can finally purchase an expressive quilt that straightaway warms any heart and brings squeals of delight from even the most sedate of all teens.

Rotary cutters, as all quilters are familiar with, is a cutting devise that can be used for cutting patchwork shapes in quilting. Available in different sizes and with advanced facilities, this devise has indeed created a revolution in quilting. You can easily incorporate the rotary cutter in your work effectively with the help of a few handy tips.

Tips and tricks:

Rotary cutters can be immensely helpful in your work if you manage to select the right cutter for your work. While cutting, it is very necessary that you select the right shaped cutter. Rotary cutters are available in a three popular sizes ranging from large to medium and small cutters. Most commonly, large rotary cutters can be used for all types of patterns. However smaller rotary cutters can be very helpful while cutting smaller shapes. Another consideration while using rotary cutters is that of your safety. Always ensure that you are following all the recommended safety tips mentioned by manufacturers of the particular cutter you are using. You should also see to it that you are cutting well away from the body. This ensures your safety and comfort while cutting. Also preferably, you need to place the blade side right next to the template ruler while cutting. It is also recommended by many experts to cut the strips along the lengthwise grain. Also refrain from stacking your strips while cutting. Your time saving plan can lead to patchy cutwork and a complete waste of fabric if you are inexperienced in this aspect.

Rotary cutting tools:

Rotary cutting can be done very effectively if you manage to assemble the right kind of rotary cutting tools. First important tool is the rotary mat, which is slightly rough. This enables you to cut your fabric effectively on a solid foundation. Secondly you will also need an accurate and precise rotary ruler. Rotary rulers help cut out desired shapes smoothly and effectively.

Thus, overall, rotary cutting can be accomplished easily. All you need to do is to stick to facts, ensure your safety and practice this art to perfection.

The issue of pre washing the quilt fabrics is often debated upon. There are equal number of quilters who support both the options. However to determine your course of action, you can first take a look at the pros and cons of pre washing your quilt fabric.

Advantages:

Pre washing quit fabrics involves washing the fabrics before the final cuts are made. There are many advantages of washing the fabric before putting it to use. This is the most effective way of ensuring that the fabric is of good quality. Sometimes, fabrics can be coloured with inappropriate dyes that can stain the other parts of the quilt if you wash such fabrics later. Pre washing such fabrics can remove difficulties in this regard. Pre washing also removes dirt and germs, which result primarily out of frequent handling of the fabrics. You can also understand the perfect colurs shades of your fabric if you pre wash it effectively. Sometimes, some types of fabrics like cotton fabrics may shrink significantly after a wash. If you choose to wash the quilt after it is made, chances are that your quilt can also shrink inappropriately where the cotton patches are used. All these advantages indeed lead many to believe that pre washing is the best option for their unfinished quilts.

Disadvantages:

Sometimes quilters rush to pre wash their fabric even before they have decided what they want to do with it. This can highly limit your options regarding the fabrics. Sometimes even harsh detergents can cause damage to the raw fabrics. Hence avoid washing the fabric if mild detergents are not available. Many also believe that the natural stiffness of the material vanishes after a pre wash. This can make it tricky to work with. Thus many prefer to leave their fabric the way it is. This also gives an authentic and natural look to their finished quilts.

Thus, to decide whether you want to pre wash your fabric or not, see to it that you weigh the pros and cons appropriately, before making the final decision.

Quilting bee:

A quilting bee is nothing but a gathering of friends and like-minded quilters who come together to work on a quilt for a specific purpose. This picture is usually seen in small villages and in larger cities where quilters take out time to enjoy tranquil moments with loved ones in a quilting party. The basic purpose for the quilting bees was initially to finish off a handcrafted quilt at a quicker rate. Another purpose was also to have a competition of sorts among the group of quilters to create a unique and beautiful quilt. In the olden times, quilting bees made possible the assembly of friends and acquaintances from far off areas on a common platform once a month or so. Back then it was also very common for women to come forward and create quilts for a poor pregnant neighbour and also for the sick and disabled around. This tradition is still prevalent today in most parts of the world. The availability of more manpower has also given rise to larger quilting bees, who gather in huge numbers to make handcrafted quilts for special purposes like gifting quilts for the sick and injured in the hospitals.

It is really frustrating to do all the right things in quilting and yet be confronted with a quilt that has its sides going haywire in all directions. Nevertheless all experts have been there and done that. They also discovered that by squaring up the quilt blocks they could avoid all the costly mistakes and finish up their quilt in style. Thus, to have an accurate quilt, simply square up the quilt blocks.

Squaring the blocks:

Quilters use different techniques of squaring up their quilt blocks. One popular method involves the use of a freezer paper. In this method, you first need to cut the freezer paper in the exact shape of your blocks. You then need to draw as many lines as required on the paper, which will help you to position the block on the paper. Drawing two straight lines along the vertical and horizontal centers are however a must. Then you can proceed ahead by putting your block on a board. The freezer paper can be placed on top of the block accurately. You can align the freezer paper and the blocks properly by fastening them with pins. Once you are convinced that the two are aligned perfectly, press down on the paper as firmly as possible. Finally, you can remove the pins and see for yourself the way in which the sewn seam area is caught onto the quarter inch area of the edges of the block. This method can be followed for squaring up all your quilt blocks.

Advantages:

The greatest advantage of this method is that it is easy to follow. It can be done anytime and with any type of freezer paper. This also helps you to keep the blocks in -square as you work on skewed quilts. Many other methods can also be used for squaring up your quilt blocks. However, this is by far the easiest. However, you need to thoroughly inspect all the methods before choosing the one you find the easiest and the most accurate to follow while squaring up your quilt blocks.

What does a warm summer day, yarns, thimble and hard working hands bring? Nothing, but quilting. Quilting is a traditional art of sewing together three layer of cloth to form a gorgeous quilt. Though quilting is a huge business, there are some creative and industrious people, who gladly pursue it as a hobby of a lifetime.

The art of quilting:

The art of quilting can be dated back to as long as the middle ages, where, quilted clothes were made for warriors who ventured into cold harsh climates of the world. Unlike the present however, the quilting style then was very simple and devoid of much pomp and fuss. However, even then, some forms of quilting, showed basic designs and fabrics that ultimately paved the way for the current trends of quilting prevalent in varying forms in almost all parts of the world. Quilting today is very famous for conjuring up a large number of designs, patterns and textures. While some quilts are still used as a form of bedding, a large number of other quilts are mainly used for aesthetic purposes. Besides, an emerging art form, quilting is also pursued by many creative individuals as a number one hobby to make constructive use of their spare time.

A creative hobby:

Quilting is one hobby that aptly shows the creativity of the person. Besides knowledge of the process of quilting, one also needs to have patience and zeal to create a warm quilt from a scratch. Individuals keen on taking this as a hobby should also be ready to devote their time and energy for this one of a kind craft. Like all great hobbies, quilting reaps great rewards. Besides enabling an individual to make use of his creativity to the fullest, quilting also allows you to commercialize your hobby and sell your work satisfactorily in the quilting market. Though you can make use of machines to aid your hobby, the fun of watching your friend's new born baby taking a nap in your handcrafted quilt is a joy apart from anything else in the world.

The technique of quilting has made immense progress leading to faster and more effective accomplishment of work. Tools like rotary cutters have specially added new life to this art by enabling their users to cut fabrics effectively and accurately.

Rotary cutting:

Rotary cutter is a tool that can be easily distinguished from others because of its appearance. Resembling a pizza cutter, this tool consists of a thin, round razor sharp blade and a handle. Rotary cutters are available in three prominent sizes including large, medium and small. You can select the size depending upon the kind of work and fabric involved. Usually large rotary cutters can be used for cutting almost all forms of rotary cuttings. However, the smaller cutters are required if you wish to have intricate small cuttings and trimmings. The recommended size for any form of quilting work is 18"X24". Rotary cutting however cannot be accomplished only by using the cutter. You will also need a rotary mat and a ruler for better application. Rotary cutting is a popular technique as it enables quilters to cut a large number of fabrics effectively and accurately. This is a must have in large quilting industries and other associated work places. Many different kinds of shapes like squares; rectangles, triangles and bars can be cut by using the rotary cutters. Before using the cutter however you have to master some basic skills required in quilting. This will help you to design your project accurately before making the final cut.

Pros and cons:

Rotary cutters are highly effective and can help you plan and accomplish your work at a faster rate. However, they can be extremely expensive and may require a bit of maintenance. A bigger problem can arise if you fail to follow the safety guidelines. These cutters can literally take a bite out of your fingers if you don't close the safety latch or use the cutter inappropriately in any other way. However, with a few precautions, you can use the rotary cutters effectively and master all the tricks and tips of the trade

Quilting has always fascinated and enthralled art lovers all over the world. With exquisite designs and unlimited variety, quilting truly symbolizes human creativity to the fullest. Whether beginner or an expert, you too can reflect your creative side by exercising your mind and staying in touch with your aesthetic sense.

Get creative:

Quilting has chiefly evolved out of necessity. Quilts were used as protections against harsh climates and for providing much needed warmth to homes. However, the availability of irresistible leftover fabrics and with an inborn zest to create the best they could, quilters started giving a more artistic look to their finished quilts. Thus, odd patterns, and geometric figures began to look even more appealing and unique after being polished by the creative insight of quilters. Even your creativity can be reflected aptly if you manage to create something new, and come up with novel patterns never thought of before. You can do this by unleashing your hidden talent and abandoning the mindset of how quilts should look and feel. To get creative you need two prime accessories, namely flexibility and originality. Though there is no harm in getting inspired by designs and patterns of famous quilters, you need to try and add your own personal touch to your finished quilts. You can also experiment with colours, contrasts and designs to come up with new ideas.

Exercising creativity:

Creativity is present in all, but may not surface immediately, if it well hidden under your practical self. To bring your creativity to forefront, you can exercise your mind and engage in critical problem solving. Quilting will provide you immense opportunities for this purpose. You can for instance collect leftover fabrics and use them effectively while quilting. Though this may take some time, the learning experience you get here will be worth the wait. You can also derive inspiration from the nature and happenings around you to aid you in designing unique quilting products. Thus to be a creative quilter, you simply need to exercise your mind and bring those long resting creative ideas out from early retirement.

A Quilt has always been considered as the number one bedroom accessory. Quilts are colourful, provide great comfort and ensure sweet dreams all night long. It is now possible for you to buy such quilts for your feisty youngsters. These quilts for children not only provide protection, but are also highly prized by children for their colorful designs and soft textures.

Choosing quilts:

Buying quilts for children have never been this easy. In the past, quilts came in limited designs and fabrics. Today however, you can easily find a quilt that appeals to your sense of comfort, and your child's sense of ' prettiness' perfectly. Children's quilts are available both for boys and girls. Usually there are a large number of deigns ranging from cartoon characters to floral prints. It is advisable that you take your little ones shopping before buying a quilt yourself. While buying children's quilts you need to be very aware of a few things. Make sure that the fabric used in the quilt is of a finer quality. Most importantly ensure that the quilt you are about to purchase is of low maintenance type and washable as your children would rather prefer to stain the precious quilt and have a pillow fight or two, regularly in the confines of its warmth. It is advisable that you shop exclusively in the children's quilt section, as other quilts can be too heavy or too long for comfort. You can purchase quilts from you local stores, or can go in for online shopping where Children's quilts are available in a large number of colours, designs and fabrics best suitable for your kids.

Quality quilts:

Kids can be very fussy regarding the designs on the quilts. However, you need to ensure that the quilts are original and of the highest quality possible. Avoid buying quilts, which are too coarse or badly finished as such quilts are rarely durable. Quality quilts can last for a long time and can be preserved as a sweet memory of your kid's childhood for many years to come.
