R/C Controllers

R/C controllers are the brains of your radio controlled vehicle. Without your R/C controller your high tech vehicle would literally sit in the middle of the street like a dead duck. If you are interested in radio controlled vehicles, here are some tips on R/C controllers.

R/C controllers come in many different sizes and styles. For instance, for most cars, many people choose a steering wheel R/C controller or a pistol grip. You can easily control your car with these types of controllers. Most R/C controllers usually come with multiple frequencies so you can find a clear channel or a separate channel in the case you are racing with others.

Most R/C controllers run on FM frequencies and need to be approved by the FCC in the United States to be legal. If you are controlling a remote controlled plane in the air, you will want a R/C controller that has a long range and long battery life.

There are many different types of R/C controllers and hobbyists like to accessorize them by encasing them in unique cases or modules. Many R/C controllers include LCD screens, read outs, LED's and other important vehicle information such as speed or temperature. While these features aren't the norm, many serious enthusiasts take their radio controlled vehicles very seriously.

An R/C controller can be used with many different vehicles, so you don't have to buy a separate controller for each car or plane you own. Some R/C controllers are affordable, but if you are looking for a R/C controller with all the bells and whistles, expect to pay several hundred dollars.
